I was born and raised in the city of Central and was always a part of the local church. I came to Christ at the age of 9, but spent the next 10 years drifting from the Lord. During this whole time I was a faithful attender of my home church, but always felt like there was something more to Christianity than just going to church once, twice or three times a week. Knowing there must be something more and not knowing where to find it just left me in frustration and doubt about this whole Christian thing.
While attending LSU I found myself even farther from the Lord than ever. I even doubted the existence of a personal God. But I still attended church, because I wanted there to be something more. It was during this time of my life that I had an encounter with God during a worship service. I knew He was real, but still didn't know anything about who He was (Again...frustrating). I knew there must be more than just going to a building and singing songs and having to watch my friends ceased to be a part of anything "Christian" for similar reasons; the church had nothing to offer. The Church grew increasingly irrelevant with each passing week.
By this point in my life, I had absolutely lost all desire to be a part of the local church, but there was one good thing that came from being a part of the local church, I was encouraged to attend Dallas Theological Seminary for training. At DTS I benefited from learning under some of the greatest theological minds of our day. During my time in Dallas I was introduced to a world that I never knew, the world of Christianity; 2000 years of thought concerning the God we serve and the faith we hold. One day in class, a professor made a statement that has changed my life forever. He said, "You shouldn't have had to pay for this class. Your pastor should have loved you enough to teach it to you already." At that moment I knew God was calling me back to local church ministry in order to recover what the church has lost, namely, an intimate knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, God our Father, and the Holy Spirit, through the study of Theology, and the Word.
After completing a Theological Masters in Systematic Theology and Pastoral Ministries at DTS, God brought me full circle back to my roots in Central to plant Central Bible Church a church which is committed to seeing people transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the person of Jesus Christ for the glory of God the Father. We are committed to expository preaching of the Word of God, theological training of every believer, and life transformational discipleship. It is our hope to be a training ground for the average Christian. A place of life for those who find themselves dry. A place of rejuvenation for those that find themselves spiritually weary. We are a church that welcomes those who like myself, know that there must be something more than what most local churches have to offer; who look for more in a worship service than high dollar sound equipment and flattering speech; who want to learn and grow, and who will do whatever it takes to accomplish this.
