THE NEED FOR CBC

WHY PLANT A CHURCH IN CENTRAL?

The simple answer... the Lord is opening doors for a new type of church to reach this generation and the next with the gospel of truth, the depth of theology, and the life changing experience of authentic Christian community.

THE COMMUNITY

Central, Louisiana incorporated April 23, 2005, immediately making Central the 12th largest city in the state of Louisiana.

Central, LA is located in East Baton Rouge Parish east of the cities of Baker and Zachary and is bordered by the Comite River to the west, the Amite River to the east, and Hwy 64 to the north.  The city boundaries encompass approximately 66 square miles.

Central’s current population is approximately 27,000.

In November 2006, the voters of the state passed a constitutional amendment authorizing the creation of the Central Community School District, which will allow the people of Central to govern their own public schools. Fall 2007 began the first semester under the new School District and today boasts the highest standardized test scores and top ranked sports programs, both an attraction to future residents of the city of Central.

Two proposed loops around the city of Baton Rouge will eliminate ≈20mins. from driving time to South Baton Rouge, further eliminating hesitancy from Baton Rougean’s moving to Central.

Hundreds of new homes are being built, in many new subdivisions. Commercial as well as residential construction is booming.

Only 12-15% of Central’s population attend church within the city, leaving an estimated 23,000 seeking churches outside of the community in which they live or not going to church at all.

  • Nearly 85% of residents of Central do not attend church within the city in which they live.
  • Our churches are not reaching the lost with a gospel which is both timeless and relevant.
  • 80-85% of existing churches in America are either stagnant or in decline.
  • The Word of God is not being taught in our churches.
  • Strange and aberrant teaching is finding its way into our pulpits.
  • Christians everywhere are experiencing a new desire to be taught and to know the Truth of Scripture.

Central is growing and will continue to grow into the future, while the Christian infrastructure is not in place to meet the spiritual needs of the community.
